Sunshine for the body, peace for the spirit and warmth for the heart
In Illetas, only 8km (5 miles) from central Palma, the clifftop BonSol nestles amid palms and pines trees, its moorish tower lofting from luxuriant gardens, dominating the picturesque Palma bay. The main building abounds in lounges and welcoming cosy corners, whose antique furniture, velvets, beautiful classic paintings and precious porcelains, which where carefully selected at the time by Roger Xamena (wife of founder Antonio Xamena, cofounder and genuine soul of the BonSol) create the atmosphere of a medieval castle. Whereas the 8000m2 gardens in the beach area resemble that of an enchanted oasis rich in palm trees, pine trees and an overall breathtakingly beautiful ensemble of plants, flowers and swimming pools that recall wild lakes with cascades… offering a scenic landscape where privacy reigns. Completing the resort rests the little cove, with its clear waters and sandy seabed is inviting to a point that makes it hard not to walk in.
Modern comfort meets classic charm
Not two of the spacious bedrooms and suites are alike, each has its own charm, individual in decor and disposition, offering partial or full sea view, with a private bathroom, balcony or terrace, TV, WI-FI, minibar, telephone, air conditioning, central heating and overall warmth and beauty. The BonSol’s rooms coziness is really one of a kind, each lovingly decorated by today’s soul of the hotel or known as well as Lorraine Starkey, wife and right arm in business of Mr Martin Xamena, general manager and owner, for now nearly 40 years.
Our gardens… they have taken the BonSol more than 30 years to build, and to reach the level of luxuriance they enjoy today. The gravity and descent irrigation systems were designed by the last Mallorcan peasant craftsmen following ancient Arab traditions. Still tattooed in our memories is the work of ``mestre`` Sebastià, remembered as being so enthusiastic and committed to the project that he continued to work beyond the age of his retirement and after the age of 70. The species that inhabit them, combine local varieties of dwarf palms with large date palms, aloe vera, ficus, olive trees, oleanders and an enormous variety of aromatic plants and Mediterranean flowers. In these gardens the greenish hues, are as fresh in winter as in spring or summer, and counteract the colors of the bougainvillea and other exotic flowers. The trunks of large and small trees, the aerial roots, the leafy ivy vines give some parts an almost wild jungle atmosphere, while other areas are are freer, allowing our guests to choose between the cool shade the BonSol’s rich vegetation provides or the warm sun rays of Mallorca’s sun throughout the day. Hidden amongst these, lays an adults only area, facing a breathtaking view of Palma Bay, for those seeking for more peace and quiet.
