As often happens, we approach the new year filled with resolutions and good intentions, hoping it will be even more prosperous than the last…
Goodbye, 2024. At BonSol, we can only be grateful to you—you have brought us many new guests and allowed us to reconnect with old friends and make new ones too.
Welcome, 2025! We trust you will bring us many new surprises, and we prepare ourselves to keep everything just as it is. The Hotel BonSol’s goal is to improve/evolve without ever changing, staying true to the values and principles that, for 72 years, have guided our decisions and built our loyal clientele.
Outside of the tourist season, we leave behind difficult years: the pandemic, the war in Ukraine, the Hamas massacre and Israel’s harsh response, the conflicts in Lebanon, Syria, and Iran, and the ongoing international realignments that political analysts never stop highlighting. Yet, when everything seemed lost, when we were confined to our homes and the world itself had become unrecognizable, when human contact was reduced to fleeting glances behind masks, everything returned to normal within a few months—only this time, with an even greater desire to enjoy life. We quickly moved from “everything will be fine” to “fully booked,” which had a direct impact on both the quantity and quality of tourism services.
The last two tourist seasons in Mallorca have been extraordinary. The industry has seen record growth in bookings and demand, making 2023 and 2024 years to remember. However, alongside this market growth, there has also been a significant rise in costs—sometimes justified by inflation, war, supply chain difficulties, and the general increase in the cost of living. Other times, however, we have been left baffled by unjustified price hikes that did not reflect an improvement in services.
While the rest of the world rushed to inflate its prices, BonSol made a different choice: to keep everything the same. We reintroduced the same price list from 2019 with a small added percentage covering inflation and other costs, with only two seasonal categories: high season and low season. A room in June costs the same as in August. At BonSol, there is no place for algorithms or artificial intelligence; we have always prioritized human interaction over the widely used Revenue Management systems, which autonomously adjust prices based on market fluctuations—the higher the demand, the higher the price.
Of course, when the cost of living, services, transportation, and food & beverage increases, businesses have the right to raise their prices. But overcharging has always seemed, to us, a way to lose customer loyalty. What matters most at BonSol is that you enjoy your holiday without ever feeling that you are not receiving the attention you deserve. This is why we are proud to remain a family-run hotel, with its traditions and timeless charm, even in 2025.
In ancient Rome, the art of divination was entrusted to priests called augurs, whose role was to interpret the will of the gods by observing the flight of birds. If you have the chance, visit our Instagram and check out our January stories: a flock of starlings has chosen BonSol’s Mediterranean pines as their refuge, chirping happily. To us, this is a small sign that 2025 will be another year to remember—together.
We look forward to welcoming you for season 2025.
